The Offing

This is a speculative redesign project for the cover of Benjamin Myer's novel "The Offing".  The book follows the story of Robert, son of a coal miner in post World War II Yorkshire. The story explores themes of class, sexuality, friendship, as well as emotional maturing.

The illustration takes inspiration from the book's vivid descriptions of the Yorkshire countryside in the summer and the intense emotions connected to the themes of growing up and finding one's way in the world.
